Meaningful Use EHR Reporting Deadline: October 2nd | Practice Fusion
CMS published a final rule on October 16, 2015 that specifies criteria that eligible professionals (EPs) must meet in order to participate in the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs. The final rule’s provisions encompass the definition of Meaningful Use for 2015 through 2017.
Start by October 2nd to avoid future penalties
Are you a first time participant and haven’t started Meaningful Use? The CMS Final Rule states that all first time participants demonstrating Meaningful Use need to attest for any 90-day reporting period in 2016. October 2nd is the last day to start and complete a 90-day reporting period in 2016. CMS has also indicated that the 90 day reporting period will be applicable to all participating providers, so make sure that your office is preparing to meet Meaningful Use requirements as we head into the last quarter of the year. Failure to demonstrate Meaningful Use for CY 2016 can result in a payment adjustment of up to 4% on Medicare Part B reimbursements in 2018.
